Recently I accidentally posted a political video to an acquaintance in China. I was excitedly sending something that mattered to me to everyone on my list… and unfortunately, that list included this classmate who was from China.  She deleted me from her list of contacts.

I don’t blame her, or find anything to be offended about in this action.  I shouldn’t have sent the post to her.  It was harmful to her social credit score.  In her country, I would be blacklisted already for having unpopular political beliefs.

This begs the question of just what is a social credit score? The Chinese have instituted an official Social Credit system.  What does that mean?  How does a Social Credit system work?  Or more precisely, how does the Chinese Social Credit system work? To answer these questions fully, you first have to understand how much technology has taken over their lives, and in understanding this, realize how it can take over ours too.

The first part of this technology takeover came through something like Facebook; people posting about their lives to their friends and family, and the personality profile quizzes that are oh so cleverly sent through it with all these little news feeds. “You’re a genius…”  if you know these facts, and do your friends really know you?  What movies do you like?  What music do you like? What restaurants do you go to?  What commercials have you seen? The answers to these quizzes not only build a psychological profile of who you are, but also answer all the personal questions that you might use for your security questions to reset your passwords. You do not know who has access to these things.  It turns out, that there are government agencies which have access to them.  It goes into your personal control file.

Building this up further, there’s the tracking of your purchases through the credit system.  That convenience of just asking for your list of purchases from your Credit card company to help you file your taxes comes with a steep price.  The credit card company transaction services, which are separate companies, can report to more than one master, or really, the Main master. They make money with no risk at all, and the employees make nice salaries. The reports of what is purchased and who is purchasing it go to many places.  Your personal life style is known, whether you want it known or not. We’ve all seen this show up in the form of ads that get sent to our phones and computers. This is also part of the decision making on how much you get charged interest for credit, or if you get credit at all.

Another piece of this technology takeover are the cameras.  Cameras in your phones, cameras in your computers, cameras at the traffic lights, security cameras on buildings, and in buildings, cameras in the parks, cameras at resorts, cameras outside of entertainment facilities, cameras at political events, and cameras in the schools. All of these cameras recording every mover you make, and every interaction between you and another human. Does this information ever help you? Maybe sometimes, for proof in court cases, when it suits the government to let you use it.  If it doesn’t suit the government, they simply tell you that the cameras were turned off in that area at that time.

The latest piece of this technology takeover is the facial recognition software which knows who you are when it’s recording you.  And the newest software which purports to know when you are lying (if you aren’t a pathological liar). Let’s not forget the audio files.  They can record you wherever you are, and whatever you’re doing, if you are dragging your phone around with you, because those things can be turned on remotely by anyone with the knowledge of how to hack your wireless phone. Just think about it…. This technology knows when you are going to the bathroom, how often you go to the bathroom, and how long it takes to do it.   Now you combine this software into an AI system and it would figure out when you were a pathological liar, because it would be able to note when your actions did not match your words.

So, the technology exists to act as an individual life spy system. Someone got the bright idea (maybe as a result of studying the financial credit score, or people’s behavior when they get a Prius and try to maximize their gas mileage by adhering to the indicators of the most efficiency meters in their dash board) that if they assign values to everything we do, we could delineate the best kind of people and the worst kind of people (according to the desirability of a government).  We could tell people what their score was, and what kind of things result in a good score, and what kind of things result in a lowered score, and encourage people to behave in a more socially acceptable way.  “So what? What’s wrong with that?” you might ask.

In the first place, it’s a total invasion of individual privacy. Secondly, who gets to decide what is acceptable and what isn’t? Third, it would be one thing if the social credit score could flex and adjust to life changes, so at one time you might have a lower score, but later on you could build it back up to an acceptable level again; however, the Chinese have resorted to assigning some people to permanent black list status. No matter what you do, you will always be restricted.

That’s right. If you have a low score, the government decides that you have restrictions placed on you. In China, if your score drops too low, you can’t book a ride on a high-speed train, or travel to certain areas, or outside of your assigned area, or buy certain products, or live in certain places, or have access to some of the events going on… and the list of what can be allowed or restricted goes on and on. If you have landed on the wrong side of social acceptance, you get put on a black list. Once there, you can’t get off of it.

This method of social scoring will result in a new permanent underclass. Those on the blacklist will become, in all practicality, a slave society.   Those who naturally  behave in a manner which keeps their scores high, will move up, and even gain power.  This may not even be the same people that the traditional Han Chinese society believe should be in positions of power.  If this happens, it will present another challenge to the social structure.

Those who have a good enough score and are not always inclined to always doing what is socially acceptable; who want something that would lower their score, but don’t want to hurt their score, will simply ask (outside of range of their electronics) those who are already on the blacklist to procure it for them.  In this manner, they still get to do what it was they wanted to do, but it won’t show up in their social credit system.  It will create a bigger black market and more corruption, not less.

Last, but not least, some people who are doing well, but whom other members of society do not approve of having in charge of them, may even be forced into positions which would cause them to take a hit in their social scores.  Eventually, the corruption and the increased unhappiness resulting from this artificially imposed interference in the social structure will be the cause of a new revolution, instead of preventing it.

I recently watched a video made more than six months ago by JayDreamerZ.  It is still very relevant in todays environment. The topic he discussed is a growing debate. During the presentation he challenged viewers of a different opinion to give him ten reasons why he should see things from their perspective.  He said that so  far, no one he had spoken to could do that/or would.  I am taking up that challenge.  I am not making fun of Jay, nor any of his viewers.  I realize that this new push has only recently become an issue, and I  have seen some of the videos that are making this argument. They are very well produced, and very convincing.  I’m not a scientist, so my reasons for still believing in a globular world are from more experiential evidence.

Reason number 1) the sky that is viewed from the southern hemisphere is radically different from the sky that is seen from the northern hemisphere. The sailors of old who learned to navigate this globe had to find a different stable guide to follow in order to have some sense of which direction they were going in. The southern cross pointed at the most stable place in the sky in the south. The big dipper points to a stable place in the sky in the north, (or it did before our magnetic north moved…. )   These stable locations are caused by the relative stability of the spin, which creates the axis of the world we live on.  Incidentally, that same spinning earth interacts with the cosmic rays of the sun to produce the ozone that we all depend on to help screen us from those same cosmic rays.

Reason number 2) When I drive across the United States on I-70 from the east to the west, I see the tops of the Rockies (Pikes Peak) rise above the horizon long before I see the foothills; the tops of those mountains are a lot further away than the foothills, and the foothills are not small. No argument that my sight of them is clouded by a mist from the earth will work here, especially since Colorado is a fairly dry state.

Reason number 3) When it’s summer in the southern hemisphere it is winter in our northern hemisphere, and vice, versa.  This is explained very nicely by the tilted spinning axis of our world. The demonstration of the simplified pictorial view that the world should face the wrong way on the other side of the world six months later does not defeat this logic.  There are entirely too many influences on the world by other outside magnetic forces (other planets) which would cause the worlds spin to slow down and make it come out exactly the way it is…..

Reason number 4) The world has been broken up (per Velikovsky, who I also read in my youth) and this breaking is still going on. I encourage you to look at Dutchsince on youtube. He is Not a professional geologist; but gives Very Cool earthquake coverage everyday with predictions you can actually track with him. I think you will enjoy his efforts that produce the work you’ll see in his videos.

Reason number 5) If the earth was shaped the way that it is being presented by the pushers of the flat earth, it would take much longer to get around the world from the outer circumference than it does to get around the world from the inner circumference… That doesn’t happen. If you go around the world on any of the same paralells, if you travel by air, the 30th parallel in the north,  and if you travel the same way on the 30th parallel in the south, it takes the same amount of time to get around the world and back to the same location you started from. That would not happen in the view of the flat earth that is being presented to you.

Reason number 6) As the disturbance from the entrance of Nibiru/Nemesis continues to affect us with it’s magnificent magnetic presence, it pulls on our spin and causes the movements within the world; which are manifesting in a huge increase in both volcanic and earthquake activity because it is moving the middle of the worlds spin into a new place. Centrifugal forces push the world to bulge outward where the new equator is located. (Look at the new upward push in the Gulf of Mexico). This is ongoing…. and it may continue to move, and change where it will end up.  In the meantime, the very wealthiest among us have been preparing for this day for a long time. They have known this was going to happen for the last fifty years so they prepared very luxurious underground bunkers for themselves to retreat into, leaving the rest of us in the dark. I’ll leave it up to you to do the research, as it is apparent you are very good at doing that. Dig deep.

Reason number 7)  Those who site the efforts of people to find the curve from the surface with lasers… sigh …. the round earth isn’t perfectly round… obviously.. If you point a laser up I-70 across Kansas, it will appear that you can do that seemingly forever. but Kansas rises in elevation from one side to the other. It is tilted up all the way toward the Rocky Mountain Massif. The earth has many different elevations from the sea level, which sea level itself isn’t stable, because of tides.

Reason number 8) The tidal forces that pulled from the moon’s pull…. whether you call it gravity or resonance, or magnetism, (may all have the same effect… essentially). This is apparent with the tides, and the water levels are not perfectly flat anywhere.. and at different times of day you will get different results. If the water were stable, it would curve downward in it’s sandy, rocky earthly vessels as it does in a glass of water.

Reason number 9) Although there is definitely a whole set of flat projections of the magnetically spinning galaxies, the parts within the spin are all round (ish), so are we, that is this earth is essentially rounded, though the water on the one side has got to be heavier;  if you have ever driven a truck with liquid in it (the big rigs) you would notice how the weight of the water sloshing around causes the motion of your truck to lurch from side to side…

Reason number 10) You are right about the “news” people who make fun of others with sneering condescension. That is the whole point of the money suddenly backing this push. The very places that you went to look this stuff up. Where did that come from? It didn’t exist before the last year. Where did the money come from that so very professionally produced those videos? They were put out there to produce this very division and intellectual schism. This is a professional set-up. And it’s working. Don’t let them get away with this. Is there new real science out there? Yes. Are there new answers to old questions? yes. Are we getting information out to people that should have been out to them Ages ago? yes. Don’t let the professional con-artists derail this effort by the insertion of this new piece of professionally presented twisted truth, and then laugh at us for falling for it. Don’t let their mis-use of real science once again push us off course.

Hello again. It’s been a little while and a lot of things have happened since I was on here last.  I finished my course work at the University of Louisville (I still have to finish paying for it, but that is coming soon).  I had a show in the Hite Art Galleries, and took it back down. Graduation will come and go, and now I’m looking for additional work, both to live on, and to finish paying for school, and to start paying for the student loans I took out while in school. While I was searching for types of work I also discovered that there is a whole new push for people to believe that the earth is flat.  Where did this come from? Definitely not from my science classes.

I cannot tell you how taken aback this makes me…..  Well, if you aren’t one of the people already pushing this new theory, it probably makes you feel that way too. So, I’ve looked at a whole lot of videos, and I’ve examined what I know from my own experience, and I’ve looked at several different types of science expansions on the knowledge I already had.

We’ve already seen there is plenty of information out there that isn’t a true reflection of reality.  Some of it is very well produced.  It looks and sounds legitimate.  We’ve all been subjected to news in the past that was not a true reflection of what actually happened…. so it’s fairly obvious that someone, maybe a lot of someone’s are making stuff up; lying very professionally, making things appear to be true through backing by verified authorities and verified science.  So now the job is to sift out what is real from what isn’t real.

What makes this so very difficult, is that there is some truth in all of it.  Don’t the best lies have to have a foundation of truth to be believed?  It only takes a twist and an extension along the lines of the twist to move us along to something that is patently false, but because of the foundation of truth, the association with something we know to be real and have experienced as valid, we swallow the rest of the narrative. We end up embracing a fairy tale.  We end up accepting the lies that we are told, and giving authority to someone who doesn’t deserve out trust, or our respect, because he or she is lying to us. The originator of the lie Knows where the truth is and where the lie begins.

To make this worse, once a few people that we have experienced as being valid and truthful, have been convinced of the lie, the weight of their belief moves us further in the direction of believing it too, even if we had some doubts. Even if our experience doesn’t jive with what we are being told. We end up believing what we are told to believe, and not what we see and feel to be right.

So to let you know, I do NOT believe that the earth is flat.  I do believe that there is a very professional set of characters who have created a whole lot of valid looking scenarios that they claim we should believe makes their claims real.  I believe we are being set up.

All the advances of the past five hundred years have been because we finally got off the flat earth belief and got Back to the knowledge of a Round earth.  Our ability to communicate over distances is because we believed in a round earth, and were no longer afraid we would fall off of it when we sailed away from the sight of our shores. Our ability to navigate by the stars is because we have a round earth, and their paths are then more fixed and predictable. Especially the pole star.  That star which is positioned where the apex of our tilted axis points, and therefor does not appear to dance around the globe with our movement, but sits still, because the spin around that point isn’t wide enough to cause it to appear to shift.

That point and magnetism (which is also fed and caused by the spinning of our globe and the interaction of that spin with the rays of the sun, which together create a magnetic dynamo effect, and incidentally produce ozone) allowed sailors to navigate by a compass which pointed to a magnetic north.  When sailors move their ships past the equator, the skies they are looking at  become different, and the pole stars they steer by are also different. their compass them points in the other direction. A sailor of old had to know two different sets of stars to successfully navigate the whole world. If your world were flat, there wouldn’t be a southern cross that stayed at a fixed location to steer by in the southern hemisphere.

Don’t let the wealthy con-artists of the world fool you into believing in their fairy tale. They are only spending their money on this effort because they plan on using this new falsehood to enslave you further, and secure power for themselves.

Who are you, really???

I purchased an apple laptop for school, and I have been gradually learning how to use it.  I have both Google Chrome and Safari on it as browsers. At school, on their computers, I generally use Google Chrome, because it usually works better.  They aren’t apple computers in their library.  I have gmail, and yahoo and an apple email now.   The plethora of passwords  is a little much. I tend to forget what they are after not too long. I had it down for a little while, but then someone hacked my stuff, and I had to change all my passwords.  Now, I’m frequently in a bind as to which one I need to remember.  It’s horrible.  Until recently, I thought that was my only problem.

It hasn’t been an issue before, but I’ve just discovered that I can only get on the wordpress site when I’m in the google search engine. I can’t even get into it when I’m in my gmail, if I’m not in gmail on Google Chrome. I get told that I don’t have a site yet when I try to get into it. On the other hand, when I’m in my gmail on Google chrome, it goes straight into the wordpress site when I click on any of my articles that I have sent to my gmail. No problem at all.

I’ve just purchased a web site for my new artistic profession, which I am still in the process of setting up.  I was in a different browser when I searched for it, and I set it up with my Apple icloud email.  If I’m in Google Chrome, It can’t find the site at all.  Now, not only do I have to remember which password goes with which email, etc., but I also have to remember which browser goes with which site.  This is becoming depressingly frustrating. I need a big chart on the wall with all my internet traffic lanes.
None of this would have become an issue at all, if it wasn’t for all the censorship of sites that I liked, like the naturopathy and how to raise farm animals that I love.  I have to go to Goodgopher.com to find them. Additionally, the selling of all my data to just anyone who wants it has begun to bother me too.  It doesn’t matter that I’m a law-abiding citizen, and that I have nothing to hide. It matters that anytime I search for anything, for whatever reason, ie, someone asked me a question that I didn’t know the answer to, so I searched it, I then get advertising for products related to that search, whether I’m interested in it or not.

Apparently, whoever has my data believes it applies to me, so they are working on selling me something. This potentially gives a false picture of me, in my opinion. I even heard that if you purchase something at a convenience store, with one of those points cards, that it will send, or sell the data to companies that use it to determine insurance rates; for instance, cigarettes.  If you are a non-smoker, but you have friends or family visiting that do smoke, and you buy them cigarettes with your points card, the data can go to the health insurance company and they will assume it’s you who smokes and raise your insurance rate.

Since this is true of points cards, then who is to say it isn’t also true of the data collected by browser searches? Or just plain any kind of typing that is done within one. These blog sites also collect data.  So now that I am switching sites to locate things of interest to me, I now have multiple pipelines of data.  Perhaps some of the sites, or browsers, or search engines don’t track everything I do, but I still have things of interest to me in the other locations, like this one.  What to do, what to do….  It’s disturbing, really.  Is this the price we pay for having these tools at our disposal?

Hmmmmmm……. Do I need to have multiple sites to sell my artistic wares? Depending on which site I’m on, will I get different results?  Will I get the interest of different kinds of people on each browser? Up until recently, I had taken it for granted that searches would have similar results, no matter where I was; now, I’m certain that I need different strategies for each browser, and different sites for them too.   ….  Sigh …….

I think I’m more interested in a smaller, more personal venue after all.  I doubt that I will bother with getting anymore internet sites.  This is far too time consuming and troublesome for doing the kind of personal, one-on-one custom artistic business I’m interested in.  I’ll be looking for a brick and mortar corner studio/shop when I get settled again after school.  Thanks internet, for clarifying that question for me.

That state of mind which demands that things be the way we believe they should be, regardless of the feelings or circumstances of others.  Two year olds are idealists.  When they don’t get their way, they throw temper tantrums.  When a mature adult sees this, they understand that what they are witnessing is an immature mindset, lacking understanding of what is good for it, what is possible, and even more, the proper way to convince someone that what you want is what should be provided.

The current leader of our country has been accused of being a big baby, as though it were he who was throwing temper tantrums. While his style of speech may be bombastic, it is hardly taking place in the realm of temper tantrum.  Theodore Roosevelt was also known for being bombastic, yet I’ve seen no disparaging remarks about him or his Presidency in comparison to this President.

On the other hand, I’ve seen lots of images and videos of full grown persons having screaming fits in public since this election occurred. It’s as though they had never in their lives experienced being told no, you can’t always get what you want, no matter how much you think you should have it.  Of course, they had been being promised that what they thought they wanted was guaranteed to happen.

Perhaps it’s a little bit understandable under those circumstances, but still, it’s been a whole year, and people are still behaving as though they never learned how to take turns.  Remember that nice book, “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten? It’s like that. There are other priorities that have taken precedence at the moment.  Wait a bit, watch what happens and if things don’t get better, then it will be your turn.

On the other hand, if things do get better, maybe it’s not as bad as you were told it was going to be. Perhaps the people in charge aren’t heinous atrocities. Perhaps they are actually real human beings with a different sense of style. Perhaps we should stop passing judgement before they’ve done anything to have judgement passed on them for. I think that attitude is called prejudice.  Perhaps you’ve heard of it?

Of the candidates currently running, Gary Johnson reminds me the most, of Charlie Brown.  He’s a good guy.  I know, that’s hard to fathom in this day and age, but they do still exist occasionally.  What’s more important at the moment, is that Gary Johnson is a valid political candidate running for President, and his presence in the polls is on the rise.  He’s the Libertarian party candidate, which means he believes in smaller government, fewer regulations and restrictions on business, or in your personal lives, and a more autonomous citizenry.  Under this type of government, creativity and invention flourish. Businesses are started, and grow. Work becomes available for more people, and productivity increases. People are happier, because they have the freedom to indulge themselves in speculative efforts; which sometimes pay off quite well.

Now, I know that we have two, very powerful, candidates running under different party banners.  It might seem impossible to dream of having such a good guy candidate actually win, but there is a scenario in which it might happen.  If the other two candidates cancel each others’s electoral college votes out, somewhat, so that neither of them have enough, if Gary can win a state, and pull just enough votes to keep either of them from winning flat out, then the decision goes to the Hill.  It would be something like what happened when Nixon Resigned, and his Vice President was already impeached.  Our congressmen and women made the decision who would be the President until the elections happened.  That’s how Gerald Ford became President after Nixon.  So Maybe, the congress wouldn’t like either of the two powerful candidates enough and would choose Gary.

Maybe that’s what his campaign rallying cry should be. Choose Gary.

First, I want to thank all my followers.  You are wonderful.  The joy I get from seeing that little notification that someone else has liked and is following my blog is matched only by the joy of seeing someone’s face light up when I’ve done something for them.   Thank you for checking out my work.  I do go to your sites and check your’s as well.  I hope I have remembered to push the little button each time, but I confess, that sometimes I get lost in perusing the material, past and present, and then get distracted by some ordinary everyday thing that demands my attention and I might miss doing that once in a while.

So of course you are wondering why I have that title up there?  I know that title sounds ominous.  What kind of person asks that kind of question?  It’s not that I don’t appreciate being able to locate things because they’ve been put in likely locations.  In this instance, it’s because nobody Else knows where to look, or maybe they really don’t care to look.  I’m a little afraid to find out.

In this instance, I’m talking about being organized as a blogger.  You see, I split my blog up into parts, to make it less diverse.  I have a recipe section now, (but it’s mostly about taking care of your thyroid) and I have a poetry blog, and one that’s pretty much all about political values.

I know that I sometimes get people on the poetry blog because I now have some followers there.  I don’t have so much going on with the other two.  Maybe it’s because there isn’t any interest in looking at them.  I suppose that’s fair.  Perhaps my followers here are more interested in the personal aspects of my life, and less about what I have to say about political things or health things.  Still, I can’t help be disappointed that those sites aren’t getting viewed as well, or maybe that’s greedy of me.

Perhaps I should just be very contented that I have followers on two sites.  When I consider it that way, that is pretty awesome to me.  Wow.  How could I want for more?  Is it worth it being organized?  Perhaps.  If only so that I don’t bore my followers with things they aren’t interested in.

Thank you for reading my musings and rants, and have a great day!

Thank you to Ifindkarma for the lovely picture of organizing boxes.

OK.  So I’m feeling guilty for not writing sooner than this.  It’s not that I haven’t had any opinions on anything, nor that I don’t wish to express it, but I just haven’t had a lot to say on anything, so I haven’t.  Other people have been doing a fine job of saying all kinds of things, so I don’t think you’ve had any lack of reading material.

I know that I’m not alone in wishing that the elections were already over.  It’s been a Really long electoral season, and the rhetoric has been thick from all sides.  There’s an awful lot of research and pondering to do about it all.  For many, this season is one of a toss of the coin.  It may seem like there is no clear choice. To some, both candidates may appear to have blatant weaknesses.  So the question then becomes what do you want to take your chances on?

Casting your vote in an election may be akin to tossing the dice at a Craps table.  You’re putting all the juice behind your selection that you can get, hoping fervently that the outcome will be in your favor.  Come on….. baby needs a new pair of shoes!

Well, that last saying may be truer for many than it ever has been before if the rate of increase in people on food stamps is any indication.  In this gambling climate, the question becomes do you want to leave your money riding on the current course, and hope that the odds will change and fall in your favor this time?

Of course, when we gamble, we usually have a set limit that we won’t go beyond.   What limit did we set for ourselves, for our economy, for our nation?  Have we exceeded that limit?  Would casting your vote for the same course of action be doubling down on a long lost cause?  Can we afford to double down?  What would happen to us if the gamble Fails?

Maybe it’s time to walk away from this crap game and find something that’s more along the lines of applying our talents to earning our money the old fashioned way.  It may be slower, but the risks are fewer, and we have more individual control over the out come.

Authority figures of Colu

Our government has been engaged in the effort to force people to help each other.

It has frequently postured that we aren’t good enough to each other on our own, and that it must take more from one group of people and give it to another group of people to keep them from suffering or going without.

The idea that necessity is the Mother of invention has been ignored and stifled by edict and regulation.

This maneuver is supposed to have no negative effects, only positive ones; but so far, I haven’t observed this one way street in action.

I have observed the populous that is handed this benevolence become lacking in drive or ambition, through the shoddily crafted legislation that prohibits any of the recipients from using their helping support to get themselves ahead.

I have observed that as long as benefits are available, they will be used up (no spendthrifts we, with Other people’s money).

I have observed that those who are taken from in this manner reduce their willing donations to those in need, because someone else is already taking care of that for them.

I have observed that those who take this benevolence end up resenting the assistance, because they are never credited with any ability to make improvements on their own, and are punished financially when they try.

I have observed the growing detachment and resentment of both sides of this scenario.

You can’t legislate morality.

It must be taught with love and compassion and understanding, and a steady dose of reflection on the pains that we cause others by our misdeeds.

It must be taught with active involvement in helping those less fortunate, and the first hand observation of the joy that helping gives to others.

It must be taught with humility and gratitude that we are able to help others.

It must be taught by those who are closest to the  ones needing to be taught.

It must be taught by those who are the immediate authority figures, by example and by kindness; preferably by their parents, and always by those entrusted with their teaching at the public level.

This, Dear Government, can’t be forced, or coerced by government edict.

It must be willingly available through the good will of the citizenry.

If this is not available, we will fail, and we will continue to have atrocities.

The more restrictions and interference the government imposes on the lives of the citizenry, the more stress the society will be under, and the  more people will forget that they are neighbors, and seek to marginalize and eliminate those who are not in a position to help them.

The more force and intimidation is brought to bear on us all, the more a lack of compassion will rule our society,

and bring down all of us,

and our children’s children’s children.

Butterfly

I’ve been considering consulting a psychic about how, or if I should pursue building my business.  I’ve been doing some work on my own for a couple of years now, and just last year I paid a hefty fee for getting it incorporated, but my overhead is still way too high and I’ve moved it to another state (in spite of another hefty fee for changing the principle address of my business) to cut the costs down.  Still, I’m not sure how I’m going to meet expenses at my current rate of business.  I may have to diversify and bring in revenue from different sources to keep it going.

As many of you have already heard, our President just gave us all a rousing good talking to about our modern way of creating a business.  Apparently, I’ve been going about it all the wrong way.  I’ve been thinking that I was in this all by myself.

Of course not, he tells me.  I’ve had good teachers that gave me the opportunity to learn to read (oops, I thought that was my parents job, since I was reading way ahead of my grade level in school), I’ve had government that built the roads I use (wasn’t that paid for by tax dollars from already thriving businesses before they were built?),  and infrastructure that was in place before I was born (telephone systems were installed by private enterprise weren’t they?  and paid for by the customers?).  Hmmmm…  Oh and the Internet, that was conceived of by the government (as an in-house system) and then jumped on by everyone else…… (Micro-soft was begun as a private business wasn’t it?  and Apple? and IBM? and Sun Systems?  when were they government owned?) who didn’t have to pay for them (thank goodness I can get all this computer stuff for free…  ooops, maybe not.)

Well, I certainly want to thank everyone out there who has contributed to my business success. Now I can breathe easy because I won’t have to worry about where my business is going to find it’s customers, or how I’m going to pay for the Insurance for it or the marketing costs, or the delivery system, or the software or the… wait a minute…. do you mean to tell me that I still have to pay for all of that Myself!???

Well…. If I have to build my business all by myself, and then still pay the government for the privilege of doing it, why should I bother to do it at all?  I’m sure the government will take care of me if I don’t.  My President has said they were the source I should credit for everything we have.

I am moving to a new area.  I have never lived there before, and I don’t have any relatives, or boyfriends, or even acquaintances there to cushion the move.  I don’t have a job waiting for me, and I  don’t have a load of income to back me up, though I do have some very good people Here who are helping to finance this move.  My daughter and I are moving there in her last year of High School to establish residency in the state that we have chosen for her to go to University in.   We are moving on faith.  We believe this is the right move for both of us to make at this time.  We are both excited about this new beginning.  Though the way forward is not clear, yet we feel good about it.  Feeling your way in the dark can be exciting.

The one thing I do have in the new area that is the same, is a Church that is the same denomination as the one I am leaving here.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Even though where I am moving to is a Very small town, there is a Church there.  The members on both ends of this move have already been really helpful to me.  They have helped load, and unload a twenty foot truck for me already.  I have some more moving to do, a couple of trailers worth, I believe, and some of the same friends on this end who will be helping me to load it, and unload it.  It would be horribly remiss of me to take any 0f these people for granted.  They are extraordinary.  I pray that that Good Being who set us here on this path of exploration will bless all of them in their journey, and prosper them, and help them realize their dreams.

I hope that the new course I am traveling will prove fertile.  I am changing directions; making a radical shift in my thinking, but in reality, I am also revisiting my oldest and best talents.   I so hope that the richness of experience I bring to those talents will blossom in the medium and grow beautiful creations.

Lately, I have been writing, but I am also going back to painting, and other creative, and I hope useful occupations.  I am tired, now, of attempting to contribute something useful to the world in the way of analytical and practical and meaningful only to have those efforts tossed back in my face as dross because they didn’t  fit with someone else’s agenda of power seeking and personal ego gratification.  Whether that fight is worth fighting, I will leave to others who are probably more suited to the mental maneuvering necessary to politics, and bureaucracy.  Perhaps, in my need to not get put in a box, I have only removed myself from doing those things that truly let me get out of the box.

Wish me luck, and perhaps, even if undeserved, blessings on this new leg of my journey.

How to Be a Serial Killer

Image via Wikipedia

English: Lobby area for the Blue Cross and Blu...

Image via Wikipedia

The Journal of Medical Ethics recently accepted an article for publication from two people, Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva, who label themselves as “bio-ethicists“.  The paper that was accepted for publication in late February of 2012, declared that, “When circumstances occur after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible.”  Funny, the last time I looked “Bio” meant “Life”, and “Ethics” meant activities which were “Good”.  When did taking the life of a living human being become “good”?  Even taking the life of a serial killer isn’t “good”. It may be necessary to protect the lives of others, but it isn’t “good”

The publication of this paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics was reported in the Washington Times on Monday, March 12, of 2012, by Rep. Christopher H. Smith ,  who declared the rationale to be false and the activity to be nothing short of  murder.  I have to agree with him, as should any respecter of life.  The minute you accept the reasoning behind this paper, is the minute you declare Yourself to be not worth keeping alive.

If the right to life is not accepted as a standard that is extended to all live human beings, across the board, then there is no right to life at all. This is not a rationale that indicates a civilized society, nor one of love for one’s fellow human beings, nor one which should make Anyone, in Any group of people feel comfortable in their “right” to existence and respect from other human beings.  This rationale can be extended to anyone at any time for what ever “reason” they want to tack on to it, in order to “justify” killing people.

What I find equally disturbing to the premise that a baby can be considered not worth keeping alive, is that the so called, “Journal of Medical Ethics” accepted this paper for publication.  The Journal of Medical Ethics does not have to accept a paper for publication if they don’t agree that the reasoning is sound.  They did accept the paper for publication; therefore, ipso facto, they agreed that the reasoning behind this paper was “sound.”  What does this say about who we look to for declaring good medical practices?

Then, there is the amazing coincidence that these two “bio-ethicists” are apparently of Italian heritage, and this article smacks of the similar things that were declared in Italy prior to WWII.  Did they dig up the old papers and just re-hash those declarations?  or did they just come up with these insideous ideas all by themselves.  How is it that we have forgotten so soon the atrocities and the lessons of that war?   It hasn’t been that long people!  Where are your hearts?  Where are your heads?  Where is your compassion, and love of living?  Or are those things only reserved for those who write medical papers and publish them?  How sad that we earth bound have come so low, yet again; and now this insideous justification shows up Here, on Our shores, in Our publications, in Our philosophy.  Shame on us.

I haven’t written a serious post in a few weeks.  Some of the news has just been too sad, and I was left feeling speechless, or “writeless”, for the time being; however, this latest swipe by our President at the impending challengers to his current position leaves me breathless with disbelief (but not yet speechless).  Either Mr. Obama is irresponsible in his Presidential duties, or he’s seriously challenged in his critical thinking ability (or possibly both).

How a sitting President can sit in talks with an ally who is threatened daily with annihilation by another country and tell his political challengers that they can stifle the war talk is beyond me.  What belligerent country in their right mind wouldn’t take that as permission to go ahead and do whatever they want?  If I were the Iranian leadership, and I heard that (and you can be certain they have) I would be jumping up and down for joy.  Whoopee, they’ll be feeling.  “You know there’s not going to be any military reprisals from that source.” they will be thinking (and while they are thinking that, they will be planning their next belligerent move).

Maybe I was wrong to believe that once a sitting President is in the seat of power that there would be some sort of mantle of responsibility that wakes them up to real world issues.  Maybe I was mistaken in assuming that the information a sitting President receives is sufficient to help them understand the gravity of certain political situations.  Maybe this sitting President hasn’t got the memo yet, that Iran is serious about destroying Israel.

Or maybe he just doesn’t have the stuff between his ears to understand the information he receives, maybe it’s that  instead……

I don’t know what the problem is at the White House.  I hope that wasn’t something someone put on the teleprompter for him to say.  Surely the Presidential handlers vet those speeches better than that.  Surely they don’t all believe that saying such things in public, for everyone to hear, will not result in a net loss to Our nation, as well as to Israel. Surely, someone needs to check that out and make sure it doesn’t happen again; at least not during negotiations with a country you hope to intimidate into Not developing Nuclear weapons!!!

I was listening to my daughter and her friend as they talked about their homework.  They had been given a list of movies to watch about wars.  We had just watched Pearl Harbor.  It was a well made movie that neither promoted nor ridiculed war, but simply told a story that gave a decent impression of some of the real human suffering that occurred here in the states, and told some of the reasons for what happened. The fact that Japan had Imperial ambitions in China and needed the oil that was being embargoed was the main reason for their attack on Pearl Harbor.

A world war is never started by just one thing, though there is often enough a catalyst for it.  We have many of the factors in place now for another one to blossom; we are just waiting for the catalyst now.  So let’s look at some of the factors that make for a road to world wide ruin and destruction.  Some of you are probably thinking that the bad economies all over are it, but that’s not enough by itself; in fact, that won’t do it at all, if people are sensible and pull together, but we have a Much more solid reason than that hanging over us now, and it has been for at least a decade.

We have become a bloodthirsty people.  We are all looking for a fight.  We are all ready to pick a fight over the stupidest things.  The rhetoric for it has been in place for a while.  You can see it in the comments after news articles, and entertainment pieces, and sports stories.  We Want to Hurt each other. People all over the world want to hurt each other.  We want to do it here in our own country, and when you throw a reason to hurt someone in another country at us, we have all kinds of people ready to jump on that as well.  It doesn’t have to be a good reason, just any reason.

Then you add a bad economy into it.  Not enough jobs, and those that are available are too low paying to make the rent, let alone the other bills.  Two paycheck households are becoming a necessity, and three or more is becoming more popular, as families move in with each other.  Tensions run high under these circumstances.  Rats in a cage… lobsters in a pot ready to boil.

Now we get to throw in radical weather patterns that squeeze people in all kinds of new ways (and I’m not talking about global warming).  Too cold or too hot requires larger and larger amounts of energy to power an electric grid or a heating oil demand that shoves the price up for lack of ability to meet it fast enough.

Because oil prices go up, food prices go up with them.  Prices that we Have to meet, because we have to have this to survive.

Now we get to add in a nuclear fear.  One emanating from a country that has had at it’s core for many years, the ideal of wiping off the map another country.  One that it restates almost daily, like a mantra, to pacify it’s people, so they won’t blame their own poor government for the mess they are in.  Now the world, that is, most of the European neighbors, Israel, and the United States, and maybe a few others as well, want to impose economic sanctions against this country, because they think that if they choke it enough, it’ll cry uncle and give up it’s nuclear ambitions.

I’d like to point out, that Europe tried that with Germany after World War I.  They were choked good and solid.  As it happens, squeezing a country until the economic life is nearly choked out of it, does Not prevent a country from being able to develop a military, nor prevent it from creating weapons, nor stop it from wanting to get back at it’s neighbors who are choking the economic life out of it.

As it happens, this country is in an ideal location to put a hurt on not only it’s neighbors, but the rest of the world as well, should we think of opposing it in it’s mad rush to get strong enough to actually follow through on it’s rhetoric of wiping out another country; never mind that in doing so, it would also wipe out people it claims to support (Palestinians).   Iran is situated in such a way that with only  a little effort on it’s part, it can close a small shipping passage that happens to carry a large amount of crude oil traffic through it out to the broad, broad world.

Now the brilliant minds out there are thinking, the price of oil will go up, and we have oil here, and I could just buy shares in oil stock and get rich off this dastardly result (heh, heh, heh…).; But this isn’t all folks, yes, just like the famous Ginshu knives, there’s yet another sharp blade in this package.  If you look at a picture of the map where the Straight of Hormuz is, you might notice that on the other side of that large land mass that is the Arabian Peninsula, there is a little country called Yemen.

I don’t know how many of you have noticed any of the news out of there lately, but I have, and it’s not pretty either.  They are a poor country, and as a result, they have a serious problem with terrorists.  The government of Yemen is working closely with other governments to keep the problem in check, but as we have seen more than a few times before, the more we try to stifle a problem, the more it struggles to rise up and bite us.  If this one rises up and bites, it could put another whole lot of hurt on us all, and wouldn’t you know it, but they might get some help for their struggle from someone else we are trying to stifle.

Yemen also sits on an oil shipping  choke point.  At the point where the Gulf of Aden buts up to the Red Sea is another narrow passage of water.  Now Yemen isn’t by itself perhaps such a threat, but what if it gets help from a bigger, more well equipped neighbor?  How long would a stand-off at those two choke points take to bring the rest of the world to the overheated boil that always signals war?  I’m betting it wouldn’t be as long as anyone would like to think.  Probably not as long as any of the government think tanks would give us either.

The repercussions of a sudden choking off of regularly delivered and expected flows of oil into countries that had ordered it, and were waiting for it would be devastating in a very short amount of time.  It wouldn’t Just be gas rationing. Not Just long lines at the gas pumps.  It would be shortages of such magnitude that it would imperil the shipping of food supplies, vital repair parts, needed and necessary supplies to finish projects already underway, and would utterly prevent any new projects from being started.

Public transportation would be affected.  Labor difficulties and job layoffs would be exacerbated by it, housing difficulties would expand, and riots would occur as food became more difficult to obtain because no one has the gas to get where they need to go; not consumers, not retail suppliers, not wholesalers, and not even the farmers could get their product to the market.

Sure, you could make a killing in the oil shares, but what good would that do you when the food riots will destroy the city you live in?  Better make sure you have what you need to eat first, then make a killing in oil and natural gas futures.

Now I would like to address the issue of Polygamy and the numerous comments made about “Mormon” beliefs.

The practice of polygamy was instituted in the early Church to address a serious shortage of men within the church, and the fact that people had a problem with supporting the widows and orphans under their trying circumstances.

There were many individuals who felt that just taking care of their own family was already too difficult and that they couldn’t afford to assist people outside their family unit.  Obviously, this left the only feasible way to solve the dilemma, short of forced donations (which the Church has never been wont to do) as being done within a family unit; therefore, to do so and maintain righteousness, it would involve marriage.

There is some discrepancy on the reporting of the numbers, but everyone agrees it was never more than five percent of the males that had more than one wife, and some posit it as being as few as two percent.

No man could marry more than one wife without the consent of his first wife.

The wives owned the property.  If a wife wanted out, she was welcomed to do so, and she took her property with her.

The Prophet Brigham Young, who was married to 17 women, had several of them divorce him.  Not because he was a bad man, but because they didn’t become the favorite, or couldn’t get their way, or because they couldn’t get along with the rest of the family members.  In a family that large, this is not hard to imagine occurring. No one replaced the First wife.

Marrying these women was  a way to make sure of their support. There was no thought of getting around a no cheating rule.  It was not a way to have some kind of harem.

Were some plural marriages more successful than others?  Sure.  As in all relationships, the parties within the marriage were responsible for their own happiness,  If they were cheerful, and cooperative with each other, and lived righteously, there was more harmony; if not, than not so much.

When the United States passed a law, outlawing polygamy well after the civil war was over ( It was not illegal before that), then The Church, as is in keeping with the beliefs of being subject to the laws of the land, stopped supporting plural marriages in the states.  Some of the members who had had successful marriages and had lots of children, etc.  moved to Mexico so as to not be where it was illegal.

Some of the men who had plural wives at the time of the passing of the law went to jail rather than have to choose to divorce one of their wives.

Some got divorced from all but one woman, and some plural marriages came to an end through natural consequences.

It had been over forty years since the institution of this practice, and the imbalance of women to men worked itself out, for the most part.

As to the ones today who call themselves Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints….  They are Not members of  Christ’s Church, but of doctrine of their own devising.  Those who follow their doctrine do so for their own reasons, and not because it is a correct tradition.

Bishops' Storehouses

There have been people who complained that the reason they became non-religious, was because the people in the churches were so imperfect.  I too have seen the imperfections of humanity, and once upon a time, I too withdrew my support from official religions because I was incensed that the people weren’t more perfect.

I could have continued in this path of indifference, being perfectly right in my position of “the people aren’t perfect enough”, and it would have gotten me exactly nowhere. Nor would it have changed anything within the church except to leave it one body shorter of those who Could have been doing something to assist each other.

God saw fit to withdraw His support from me during this time (turn about is fair play).  I was allowed to suffer the full effect of the buffetings of the world.  Without His protection to keep me from harm, without His spirit to guide me in my choices, without His angels to watch over and protect me in my efforts, I became just another casualty of a dog-eat-dog world.  I met the man who would become my husband during this time.  Things went well for a while, but then, I changed jobs, and some issues which hadn’t been issues until then, suddenly became issues.

Once brought down low, and in need of assistance (no work,no money to pay bills, no food) my husband suggested that we turn to the local food banks at the local Christian churches.  When he said this, I looked at Him, and with a sinking heart I said, “If we are going to do that, we might as well go to the one that does it the best.”  He asked me what I meant by that, and I told him about The Church welfare department.

So we went to church together, and he met the congregation of people that I had left some five years before.  It was only a little changed since I had been there.  Some people had moved out, and others had moved in, but it was largely the same human family. We asked the Bishop for some food assistance.  He said gladly, but also, the ward could help us with some other bills as well, like utilities.   We were overjoyed at this blessing.  Thank you.

Even though I had told my husband about the welfare program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he was still surprised at the extent of it.  He held up a can of Chicken noodle soup and exclaimed, “They have their own canning factory?”

Actually, the members do that themselves with volunteer labor.  I have been part of groups that volunteered time in both canning chicken noodle soup, and wrapping cheese for shipping before.  It is a balance between a very efficient human chain, and a mechanical process.  It is very well managed.  The whole process is very efficient.

There are many Bishop’s storehouses scattered all over; tucked away in small industrial neighborhoods mostly. They are centers for charitable giving, both temporal and spiritual.

I am grateful beyond belief for this eye-opening experience; to have finally understood my place in the chain of service; to have been able to see, finally, that I was just as imperfect as the ones I was pointing fingers at; to understand that our imperfections are the very reason for Christ’s atonement; and the reason that we all finally stand before God with fear and trembling to work out our eternal salvation; and to know, without a shadow of a doubt that God loves even me, imperfect as I am, and that His love is so all encompassing that He will show me the error of my ways, if I am but willing to look, and set my feet back on the path to home.

Normally speaking, an election campaign keeps it’s strategy

information to itself so as to prevent the other guys campaign from countering it’s logic; but, isn’t it funny how a campaign memo from President Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters (largely the same information as was available from before Iowa‘s caucus) suddenly surfaces that suggests that Mitt Romney would be easy to beat

just as Newt Gingrich is hitting his stride coming out of South Carolina?  Now why would they do that?

The only logical answer is because they are trying to influence the primary voters to pick the other guy;

the guy the Democratic Presidential campaign would rather run against.  Basically they are hoping and praying that we will fall for this sleight of hand.  Don’t fall for it Florida primary voters. Don’t fall for it Republican voters.  It’s a “…please, don’t throw me in the brier patch…” ploy.

Excuse me if I repeat known information for some of my readers, but just in case there are some who haven’t read or heard the tales of Br’er Rabbit, I’ll elaborate just a little.

Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear hated Br’er Rabbit because they had been tricked by him so many times.  They plotted together to find ways of catching Br’er Rabbit, and when they did, they wanted to do away with him in the cruelest manner possible.  When they finally thought they had a chance to catch and kill Br’er rabbit, they argued with each other about what the best method to punish him would be.

Listening to all this argument Br’er Rabbit got an idea. He told Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox in a shaky voice ” You can boil me or bake me, fry me or fricassee me…” and then he pleaded with them, “…but Please, please, please don’t throw me in the briar patch.”  And because Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox thought he meant that for real (he pleaded so convincingly), of course they threw him in the briar patch, because they thought that was the cruelest thing they could do to him.

Br’er Rabbit laughed all the way through to the other side of the briar patch.  “I was born and raised in the briar patch.” he called as he waltzed out the other side.

So in this scenario, Mitt Romney is the stove to bake the rabbit (the rabbit being Pres. Obama) in, that the Br’er Rabbit claims to favor over the alternative of being thrown in the brier patch.

Newt Gingrich is, for all intents and purposes, a briar patch to the Democrats Br’er Rabbit.  He has so much dirt in his background that most

people would rather stay at home than vote for him.  This would definitely play in favor of a win for the Democrats, who will be working hard to mobilize their base to get out their voters as much this time as they did last time.

I’m sure I’m not the only one following the Republican primary season, or it’s attendant shenanigans.  We’ve only just gotten started but I believe the dirty tricks are well begun.

I don’t know how many of you know this, but South Carolina doesn’t connect people’s party with their registration to vote.  In order to participate in the voting on the Republican contenders, all you had to do was be registered to vote.

So, given that coming into South Carolina, Romney and Gingrich were closer to neck and neck, does anybody else have the feeling that the rather larger than expected margin of win might have something to do with Democratic voters turning up and voting on the candidate that they would Most like their Democratic candidate to run against?

Honestly.  Newt Gingrich has a Huge target painted on him.  Sure he’s a fire in the belly debater, but he’s got to withstand 9 more months of intense Democratic attacks, and he has So many ways of being attacked.  He’s Not a good choice for a Republican candidate; but if you think his winning in South Carolina is a harbinger of his chances against a sitting President, be my guest, and follow right along with the current press craze.  Either way, They’ll love reporting on this race.

Ron Paul

Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts,...

Ron Paul, and his supporters, know what it’s like to have their words taken out of context and used to malign them unfairly.  As a result, being the fair man that he is, Ron Paul took a nearly unprecedented step during a Presidential Primary run to defend one of his fellow candidates , Mitt Romney, who was getting that treatment, yet again.

Mitt Romney was describing, to a rapt  audience in New Hampshire, his philosophy of keeping businesses honest, and hardworking, by saying that he Liked being able to fire people who provide services to him.

After all, what happens in a business that you can’t fire?  It tends to get cocky, arrogant, and self-serving.  Instead of providing good service to you, you end up just being the vehicle to providing more money to the ever increasing demands from the company. This is Not a good business to consumer relationship model.

As an example, lets look at what has happened to service from our city/county utilities.  First, they tend to have removed as much as possible, the face to face contact.  In our area, you have to go to a bill paying service center that is mostly about check cashing, and otherwise is about paying several different bills in cash.  And on top of all that, you have to Pay this bill paying service center more money to let you pay your bill here. Of course, you Can pay them electronically…. but again, there is no personal contact.

Then, the utility companies removed as much as possible of the voice to voice contact, sending customers through an ever expanding menu of options designed primarily to frustrate the user, wear you down, and prevent you from actually solving problems.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve gotten to where I just hold the phone for five minutes while it runs through it’s litany of menu choices and let it finally decide that I must be one of the three people in the nation still using a dial phone, and then it will let me talk to an Actual person, whereupon I usually get Much better results (Usually).

Or, how about the Cable company.  Do they give good service?  I remember when they first came into existence, and people said, why do we want these guys?  We have free T.V. now.  And the Cable companies said, “We’ll keep the cost down.  It’ll be real low.”   And it was, for a little while, until the initial contract ran out, by which time people were hooked on the convenience of tuning in to Many more show choices, and the cable companies raised the rates.  A lot. And they make it difficult to return the equipment in a timely manner; And they charge you all kinds of extra fees…  I could go on, as I’m sure you all could too.

The same thing happens with retail companies that have a lock on market products in an area.  They too, become difficult to work with and start thinking that They are doing You a favor by letting you shop at their store.

Suffice it to say, if you don’t have choices, firing the people/companies who “Serve” you is difficult; then, You end up serving them instead.
